Image Processors

About Image Processors

Image processors include hardware and/or software that translate data into dots or pixels in a printer or image setter. Image processors process images by means of a digital computer. Image processors help to retrieve the image by carrying various processes like scaling, enhancement, restoration, compression, segmentation, and representation. Two examples of image processors are raster image processors and hyperspectral image processors. A raster image processor is a chip used in printing systems such as laser printers, to produce a bitmap that generates the output. A hyperspectral image processor simultaneously acquires images at multiple electromagnetic wavelengths and can contain more information. Other image processors are commonly available.

Image processors function in a variety of ways. Image processors are used to manipulate images obtained from content repositories. An image processor performs operations such as scaling, rotation and image enhancement on an image that has two dimensional functions, X and Y, which are the spatial coordinates. Raster image processors and hyperspectral image processors are used to convert images into pixels or picture elements. Computer image analysis uses software that breaks down the image or uses a digital image filter to identify, enhance, and quantify its features. Computer image analysis system can be used analyze the gray scale and color images to obtain its dimensions, angles, colors and the intensities. Raster image processors are used to convert vector digital information such as post script, into a high resolution raster graphic image. Raster image processors can be operated as a firmware program that can be executed on a microprocessor present inside a printer, or it can be operated as software component of an operating system. Hyperspectral image processors readily provide information that can be used for making critical decisions. Image processors use Hyperspectral image processor to create soil and geological maps, documenting hazards, and after results of any natural calamity. Image processors are designed and manufactured to meet most industry specifications.
