The CCD 442A is a 2048 x 2048 element solid state charge coupled device (CCD) full frame area image sensor which is intended for use in high resolution scientific, industrial and commercial electro-optical systems. The CCD 442A is organized as a matrix array of 2048 horizontal by 2048 vertical CCD photosites. The pixel pitch is 15µm with 100% fill factor. Three-phase clocking is employed in the imaging area as well as in the serial register. The CCD 442A has one output amplifier at the end of the horizontal transport registers. For dark reference the top and bottom eight rows and the left and right eight columns are covered by a light shield. The available image area is thus 2032 rows by 2032 columns. The imaging area is divided into an upper and lower half. Each of the 1024 x 2048 halves may be clocked independently or together.
